Mondo Clock

My coworkers at Toyo are in the UK, Switzerland, and Egypt. I’m in British Columbia. I built Mondo Clock to keep track of their days, and to try something I hadn’t done before: shipping a Mac app.

Visit Mondo Clock

I’d seen Jason Fried’s take on a world clock for Omarchy and liked the idea of making something familiar feel personal. Then British Columbia gave me another reason to think about clocks: the move to year-round Pacific time. We wouldn’t be changing our clocks anymore, but plenty of other places would. Keeping track of the difference wasn’t going to get easier.

I wanted more than a list of times. Mondo puts your places on a globe and shows the local time, weather forecast, daylight, sunrise, and sunset. You can see whether someone’s starting their morning or watching the light disappear, and what the weather’s like where they are.

A world of your own

You can group places into Worlds for coworkers, family, or friends, and share a World in the browser. I left meeting scheduling out of it. There are plenty of apps willing to turn a clock into another calendar.

I’d never shipped an app on Apple’s App Store before. Mondo became my first. Apple approved it, it’s live in the store, and I’m still making small refinements as I use it with the team.
